Thank you for choosing to send your children to Catholic school! We understand that Catholic school tuition is a big investment for a family, and we are happy to be able to offer practicing Catholic families some tuition support through a parish grant. However, it is important to understand that receiving the parish grant is not automatic. Please see the Frequently Asked Questions below for more information!
Through the tuition grant, the parish invests in families committed to raising children who live their faith fully and authentically and who are helping our parish mission to worship, serve, and evangelize. Tuition grants help parents provide for the spiritual, social, and academic formation of children seeking a Catholic education by offsetting a portion of tuition costs. Grants are made possible through offertory Mass donations from parishioners, ongoing fundraising, and development efforts.
The grant is only open to parishioners of St. Matthew Parish (although other parishes to which our school families belong may offer their parishioners some tuition assistance). Being a St. Matthew parishioner does not guarantee that a family will receive a grant, however. Only those families who are participating members of the parish are eligible for the grant.
To be a participating member means all of the following:
We know that we have some school families who are non-Catholic or who are not practicing the Catholic faith. Those families are welcome at St. Matthew School, but they are not eligible for the parish grant and should expect to pay full tuition.
Not necessarily. We ask you to sign that part of the tuition agreement to indicate that you understand what it means to be a participating parishioner and so that you can discuss with your family how you be involved in your faith. Families who sign this portion but do not demonstrate participation in parish life will not receive the grant.
Absolutely. We want a Catholic education to be accessible to as many people as possible. We have additional tuition support available thanks to private donations to the church and school. Please contact the principal at the school to discuss options.
We understand that some families who do not receive the grant might have extenuating circumstances about which the parish and school are not aware. If you did not receive the tuition grant and would like to discuss your situation further, please contact the parish Business Manager, Leo Grimes, at [email protected] or (614) 471-0212.
