|Games Begin||First week of December|
|Tournament||Last 2 weeks of February|
Grades 4-6 are recreational teams and are created to be as equal as possible. Grades 7-8 each field a competitive team. Once evaluations take place, players will be chosen on one competitive team. The remaining players are placed on one or more recreational teams. Depending on the number of athletes registered, grades may be combined within the school or with other parish schools to field a team.
Practices are scheduled 2 times per week, with the exception of the 7th and 8th Grade competitive teams, which practice 3x per week. Since all our coaches are volunteers, we try to accommodate the coaches’ work schedules as best we can. Practice times can begin after school at 2:30, or they can start as late as 7:30pm (for older kids). Duration is usually 90 minutes. In an effort to not conflict with the 7 th and 8 th grade ski club, those two grades do not have practices on Fridays. A final practice schedule will be determined the 2nd week of November. Practices are held at the following locations:
- St. Matthew Father Noble Center (large gym)
- Gahanna Sports Factory (776 Morrison Road)
Uniforms and Equipment
Basketball jerseys and shorts will be provided by St. Matthew. The full uniform MUST be returned to St. Matthew at the conclusion of the season.
Games are held on Saturdays OR Sunday afternoons/evenings. One game lasts approximately 1 hour. Games begin in December, and the schedule is released a few days before the first game.
Location of the games can be held at any of the Columbus Diocese gyms. Locations can vary from game to game.
Grades 5-8 participate in an end-of-season tournament at varying locations. 4th Grade will play regular season games during tournament weeks.
