The St. Matthew Athletic Association (SMAA) provides organization and administrative support for all of the St. Matthew athletic programs offered through the Diocesan Recreation Association and encourages youth to participate in a variety of sports activities. The SMAA is a ministry of St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Parish, and all children of the parish are eligible to participate, regardless of whether they attend St. Matthew School, another private school, public school, or homeschool.
Volunteers serve as coaches, assistant coaches and in various supportive roles for our student athlete's development in individual sports, but more importantly as role models for our children's Catholic Christian journey. Some individual sports are now beginning at the second grade level.

Our athletic program offers many volunteer opportunities, including serving as sports commissioners, coaches, timekeepers, linesmen, and concession workers. The Athletic Association partners with local restaurants like City Barbecue and Chipotle for special fundraising events where a portion of purchases are donated back to St. Matthew. mustangspiritwear.com is another fundraising opportunity and provides a variety of options to support our school in style!

What forms are necessary to register my child for a sport at St. Matthew?
The St. Matthew Athletic Association (SMAA) is very excited that we have partnered with TeamSnap, an online application that will enable parents to complete registration and pay fees electronically. To view what registrations are currently open, visit our Sports Registration page.
If you have a child or children that will participate in athletics, you will be required to complete the registration process online for them. Registering your first child will take 5-10 minutes. Registering additional children will take 2-3 minutes each. Information is stored from season-to season, year-to-year and also shared within families eliminating the need to enter the same info more than once. Your only annual requirement will be logging in to verify the existing information for your child by re-signing each form. If you have any questions or experience any issues during registration, please direct all support requests to Matt Selan.
Diocese Sports Parent Consent Forms / Waivers:
Starting in the Summer of 2019, the forms below are signed electronically at the Diocese Sports Portal. Each time you register a player for a diocesan sport in Team Snap, you will also need to register your player with the Diocese and sign the forms below electronically. Neither St. Matthew nor the Diocese require a paper copy.
Interscholastic Concussion Form
Sudden Cardiac Arrest and Lindsay’s Law (Form and required Video)
The forms for all non-diocese sports will be signed electronically during the Team Snap registration.
