Baptisms:
By appointment only. A Baptismal preparation class
is held the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30pm in the
Oval Room - located in the Church. Classes are
required. Baptisms are scheduled every Sunday, immediately following
the 12noon Mass. Please call the rectory to schedule a baptism
or to register for the
class.
Marriage:
To marry at St. Matthew Church, one of the participants
must be a registered member of the parish (if you are over
21
years of age, you must be registered,
we do not count your parents’ registration.) At least four
months in advance of the wedding, the engaged couple is to call the
rectory
and request
a marriage booklet. After the couple has read the booklet and returned
the information sheet, they may call the rectory to make an appointment
with the
priest to discuss the preparation process. The wedding date will
be set at the time of the initial meeting with the priest.
Arrangements
for Weddings during the time of construction for the
new church:
Prior to the time of new construction, the current parish
hall will be remodeled so as to provide a space of proper
dignity and
decorum,
suitable
for the
celebration of weekday Mass, Funerals and Weddings. We expect
this space to accommodate
about 200 people.
Should the temporary worship space prove unacceptable
or should the couple prefer a more “traditional” space,
arrangements can be made to celebrate the Wedding at Sacred
Heart Church (Hamlet Street and First Avenue).
This church provides plenty of parking, easy freeway access
and a traditional setting. It is not air-conditioned. For
a Wedding
celebrated at Sacred Heart
Church:
a. Arrangements made through St. Matthew Church (i.e.
reservation of time an date).
b. Fr. Noble is the Celebrant
at the Wedding (unless arranged otherwise) and will prepare
the couple for the celebration.
c. The couple agrees to
pay $150 directly to Sacred Heart Church to help cover
maintenance and utility costs of the
parish.
Should you have any questions concerning the celebration
of a Wedding during the time of construction for
the new Church,
please
call
Fr. Noble at the
rectory (471-0212)
Confessions:
Saturdays— 4 p.m. until all are heard,
or by appointment.
Visitation of the Sick:
When a family member is ill or hospitalized,
please contact the Rectory. You may call the Rectory during
office
hours to have
a name place
in the bulletin
under prayers for the sick. Fr. usually visits
hospitals on Fridays to see parishioners who are ill, but
also be aware
that a hospital
chaplain
is
present to provide sacraments as well. If it is
necessary to have a loved one anointed,
please call the Rectory Office. If a priest is
not available, we will contact another priest to provide the
sacraments.
Bulletin News:
Announcements must be written in full and either
faxed or emailed to Mrs. Joanne Mangia at:joanne@stmatthew.net by 3:00pm Monday.
