Parish
Education Programs
St. Matthew Parish Education Programs, support the Pastor,
Catechetical leaders, and Youth Minister in the spiritual development
of our parish family. It is important for all Catholics to
grow in the knowledge of their faith and in their love of Christ
and His Church. This can be accomplished with the extended
help and support of all members of our parish family.
Our Parish School of Religion exists to support our parents
by offering Religious Education classes providing a formal
learning situation, and including opportunities for peer and
community expressions of faith. Parents, by their example and
guidance, are the primary religious educators of their children.
The Church is committed to the religious education of its young
people. In order to accomplish this for students who do not
attend parochial school, our parish provides classes for school-aged
children. If your are interested in becoming a Catechist or
participating in other volunteer opportunities contact Julie
Zarichny at 614/471-2067.
Our Rite Of Christian Initiation Of Adults (RCIA) program
welcomes new members into the Catholic faith through education,
faith sharing, friendship, and hospitality. The program prepares
and initiates candidates into the Catholic faith. Study begins
in the fall of each year and the parish is introduced to the
candidates at several times throughout the year. All are invited
to pray for them as they progress on their faith journey, with
formal induction of candidates at the Easter Vigil services.
For more information on this program contact Karen Burford
at 614/475-2946.
Our Youth Ministry empowers our young people to live as disciples
of Jesus Christ, draws them to responsible participation in
the life and work of the Catholic faith community, and fosters
each individual’s total personal and spiritual growth.
We have a very active high school program and are in the process
of starting a middle school ministry. For more information
or volunteer opportunities contact Maria Prisco at 614/471-7556.
Is becoming a Parish Education Program volunteer right for
you? A volunteer for this group: Likes to explore and help
others explore God’s word in all facets of our lives
and make it the foundation for all we are and do; believes
that in knowledge there is strength; is excited about the spiritual
and mental growth of others; and desires to share knowledge,
experiences, and skills with others. If you would like more
information on the above ministries, refer to your Stewardship
Booklet or contact the parish rectory.
