SACRAMENTAL SUPPORT

Purpose:

The Sacramental Support ministry provides support for the Priest’s and Pastoral Associate in the areas of baptism, and maintenance of the sacristy. Further opportunities to serve will be added in the future.

Activities:

Members of the Baptism Ministry meet several times a year to make Baptismal Cloths and prayer cards. As the ministry expands, meetings will include sessions on offering support to parents of the newly baptized and then opportunities to share that support.

The Sacristans are responsible for the care and security of the Sanctuary and Sacristy. This includes decorating the church for the Christmas and Easter seasons. Other activities include: washing and ironing the Altar linens and albs, taking vestments to the cleaner when needed, replacing candles in the Sanctuary, preparing for Christmas and Easter celebrations, ordering supplies when needed, and other
duties as requested.

The tradition and ceremony which beautifully enhances our Catholic faith calls for many items which must be maintained in a carefully prescribed way. Individuals are needed to perform these duties in a reliable, timely, conscientious, and reverent manner.

Responsibilities:
This ministry is responsible for: Recruitment of committee members and volunteer participants; performing the duties as required; and maintaining procedural documentation relating to this ministry.
Commitment:

The length of commitment varies for individuals, according to their ability and requirements of ministry activities.
