CATECHIST
Purpose: The
Catechist shares with students both a lived faith and knowledge
of Catholic beliefs. The catechist must use effective teaching
methods to attain the goals and objectives established by the
diocesan graded course of study in religion. The catechist must
also exhibit an enthusiasm for his/her faith that is passed on
to the student.
Activities: The
Catechist is expected to teach one 75-minute class per week,
plus spend time in preparation. Teachers are also asked to
attend meetings during the year. Classes begin in September and
end in May. Teaching positions are available in preschool on
Sunday mornings, and in elementary classes on Wednesday and
Sunday evenings. Students in grades 1 through 8 meet on Sundays
from 6:15 – 7:30 p.m., or grades 1 through 7 on Wednesdays from
6:30 – 7:45 p.m.
